Using a UL-1 motor in LSO

I was running a BJ motor in my DF29 and then I tried A UL1 motor I had.Boat was faster but using a m440 motor
temp was around 120 - 130f.My question is do these motors run hot or am i asking for trouble.Would using my turnigy 120
    work better then the UL1 esc.I was running 4S2P nanos 2650mah 35-70c .

I have a DF 29 I think a Feaigo motor with a Turnigy ESC of 180 amps may be a better choice, as it can be used in other applications, the 120 should also work well...it all depends on your expectations and if you prop up or down and increase the number of cells and amperage....2650mah is a wee bit low dependant on what run times you desire. Do not get me wrong the UL1 motor is good stuff in the right application, with Feaigo you have more choices

Those temps are fine, in fact you should prop up as they like to run in the 160-170 range. They like to run even hotter in London given the water conditions. I would recommend a 54 mm Graupner prop. But whatever you do, don't test the setup before our LSO race in London as the motors need to have limited run time to perform best, so limit your testing to 0 hours on the new setup.

Looking forward to racing against your new setup.

I was going to recommend a 646/3..................and a fire extinguisher. The no testing works for me too.

You're close with that setup. You might get away with a 4255 but it will guzzle a 1P setup. With the London ponds ocean like water conditions you might just settle for finishing upright.
