They are suppo or at least the sky wing one is and the other looks the same, I use a skywing 200 air ESC that I marinised myself in my hydro2 JAE.21 and a HiModel GX200BEC in my supercat, I like them a lot and think they are fantastic value for the money, but as with all my ESCs I use them at half there rated current to allow for the spikes to be within or at least close to the rating, except for occasional fun or SAWs use. there are things you can do to improve it though and desoldering the 12g wires it comes with and fitting 8g in there place lowered its temperature significantly in my Supercat, and the like all ESCs they need waterproofing unless you trust conformal coating (which I don't) in which case get the skywing boat one as its conformal coated already.Paul Upton-Taylor, Greased Weasel Racing.Comment

I have no experience with either, but assuming that the specifications are accurate let me compare them to ESCs I do have experience with. The Turnigy Aqua Star120 is rated at 120 amps with a burst current of 150 amps. The Turnigy Marine 120 is rated at 120 amps with a burst current of 240 amps. The ebay ESCs are rated at 200 amps with a burst current of 210 amps.
In a spec tunnel or rigger the Turnigy Marine 120 will hold up where the Aqua Star will not even though the average currents are below 100 amps. Though I haven't run one, the Castle Phoenix ICE 100 with added water cooling also seems to hold up despite it's lower rating. From the above, I would bet that neither ebay ESC is as durable as the conservatively rated Turnigy Marine 120. The current spikes in a race boat with a surface drive prop are huge. Manufacturers like Castle are starting to realize this and their speed controls (I do have experience with the ICE 200) will stand brief currents that greatly exceed the rated current.

Check with CaptPJB I sold him a Vacupickle with one of these puppies in it. I only had 5 runs on it but it worked great for me and was very easy to program. The capt can speak to its reliability. Seem like a great deal shipped for under $50 if they stand up . BGComment
