    battery placement

Are the edges/sides of a boat, or center a better place to put batteries if both are possible?

      Depends on the hull design.

It is a yellow intruder s. I will be using the fd hardware with a seaking/turnigy 180 esc, 1515 1 y neu motor, and 5s 40c 2p gens ace lipos.

You will probably not have room for those 5S packs on the tunnel, they will have to go into the sponsons.

Well, that's the thing. The batteries have not been purchased yet. So I am wondering if on the intruder should I do 2 smaller 3s packs in a series on the tunnel or 2 larger packs 5s in the tunnel in parallel. Also, it brings me to the question of weight. If I am running 5-6 cell, don't I want to get a little extra weight in there? My motley has 2 4s in parallel and it seems the extra weight might be a good thing. especially on a smaller 33" boats. By the way you said it FLuid, I am guessing the tunnel would be better if possible???

I can't say which is "better". I have built a lot of cats, and the ones with the packs on the tunnel certainly handled very well. A few hull designs have definately handled better with the packs on the tunnel. Anymore I put them where they fit best.

I will try out both. I started another topic in the appropriate forum but it has not been answered yet. Maybe you guys could just enlighten me here. What are your guys opinions on the 4-5 best brand lipos out there? i am newer at the fe and not familiar with all the brands.

I don't buy cheap LiPos because most of my boats are high amp draw race boats, so consider that when you read my response. I use Hyperion 3G and ThunderPower packs because I have had the best performance, longest life and fewest problems with them. They are not cheap when you first buy them, but you don't have to buy two or three packs as the cheap ones rapidly go bad. ThunderPower packs even have a core value when you trade them in for new ones - you get a good discount!

I have run FlightPower and MarinePower packs and while they were good initially, they did not last nearly as many cycles as the G3 and TP packs did. I have seen too many Turnigy packs burn down in high amp applications. I am sure there are other good packs available and cheaper packs may be okay for lower amp applications, but this is my experience.
