Finally put my Miss Geico to the test.

I'm using a Tacon 4074 2150kv. motor on 6s or 22.2v giving a no load rpm of 47,730 on paper at least. After calculating 80% motor efficiency my rpms are probably around 38184 and after calculating hull slipage, prop pitch and everything that can be calculated I come up with a top speed of 65.29mph. Yesterday I took the boat on a 600' measured distance speed run to put it to the test. My boat took 6.5 seconds to complete the entire 600' distance which gives it an average speed of 65mph. Once you factor in it took about 120' to 150' to reach top speed as there were some ripples on the water and I didn't want to flip the boat, my actual top speed could have been around 70mph. Well I'm real happy with that. I must have had it very well dialed in or something. I verified the distance on Google Maps and it's more like 650' but the last 50' were used to slow down so I stopped the clock at the 600' point. Thank goodness this thing turns on a dime.

They tell me this motor isn't capable of this kind of speed.but it has done this kind of thing for many runs this is just the first time I timed it. My temps for this test never broke 115 degrees. My lipo temps. were 114 and 112 respectively.

I.m using an Octura x442 prop. I also have an x645 prop but I don't want to push my luck.

What I like about these motors is even of the motor blew it would only cost me $50.00 to replace rather than over $150.00. I have thought about installing a 4082 motor but I don't fancy the idea of having to remove the waterproof sub hatch. I may still go for it though. Just have to tape the hatch well or not flip it. Hmm .
Working...
