    Need a little help

I posted a thread yesterday about mounting 1518s in my mhz along with some additional questions I had. 24 lookers and not a single bit of help. Would really appreciate some input on this. Newbies sometimes need help too! I don't want to botch this project. The boat and motors are pretty good stuff.

if the boat you are referring to is actually that long you are really going to need a bigger motor.
        (like the CC1717).
to me, that motor is too small to move the baot at any real speed.
        JMO.

or use one of these on 6S with a x-447 on the back of the hull.

this is just my suggestion is all.
hope other chime in and give their opinions on it boatz.

I use 2 of those outrunners in the boat in my avatar. it is a 45" insane Gen. 1 mono on 6S

I thought I made it clear that I was mounting 1 in each sponson! I made reference to using 2 of the fans, etc. I would be willing to bet they will move this hull quite well.

Ill post my advise to you here about your cat. Ditch the fans, (although it is a nice and different idea). Use water jackets since they are proven in boats. Use the 1518 motors, but run them on 6s instead of 5s. You absolutely will not have problems with heat running 6s voltage. I also would not use the mounts you have since the motors are going in the sponsons. That style of mount is suited for a floor mount. Make some plates out of carbon fiber for the motor mounts that fit the profile of the sponsons. You dont need rear supports for the motors, although you can make some from the carbon fiber. When you drill the motor mount holes, drill them so you can use all 4 bolt holes in the end bell. Use X447 props for 80mph blasts or X442's for general cruising and longer run times. Thats how I would do it-plain and simple.

Larry tnks for the input!! 5s because it will only be a sport boat, don't want to go 70 or 80. If I make the cf mounts you refer to won't it be difficult to remove the motors???? I agree I had my doubts about only 2x3mm screws holding the motors in place.
I will definitely go with a 4 screw approach. The props suggestion is appreciated too!! Where do I get counterrotating .187 flex shafts and collets?

Do u know how to draw me a wiring diagram for the 7.2 battery I'm using to power the servo, and receiver. I want to step the voltage down for the receiver with abec but use the full 7.2 v for the servo. How do I do that??

It wont be difficult to remove the motors. Its just a flat plate that spans from the side of the tunnel to the side of the hull where the seams are. Use cardboard to make a template. Look up Manuel's threads on the HPR cats and you ll see the mounts Im talking about. Or, look up Johnson22456 thread on his HPR 115 cat. Same style of mount. OSE used to have Hughey flexes in both rotations in stock, but I heard Ed Hughey is sick, so his parts arent moving out the door too much these days. Look up Jeff Wholt, he makes alot of driveline parts, he may be able to help with flexes. As for collets, it doesnt matter the rotation as they arent rotation specific. Just get two 5mm X .187 Octura's. I use a LiFe 6.6 volt reciever pack on my one boat. No need to step down the voltage. With the LiFe pack, just plug it in the batt slot in the reciever and use a "y" harness for the esc's. Cut or remove the red wire from ONE side only of the y and plug the single side of the y into the number two slot in the reciever. Steering servo always plugs into slot one. Doing this, you dont need to use a UBEC.
