Hi all i have built and set up several monohulls but never a catamaran from watching a bit offshore racing years ago on tv i recall both types of hulls being run in offshore events. In the world of model boating do catamarans have any advatages over monos and if so what would they be ? Regards Andris Golts.

The cat's advantages depend on the running conditions and on the particular cat hull. All else equal the cats usually have a speed advantage over the monos. In very rough water this advantage is diminished. Narrow, scale-like cats don't turn as well compared to most monos - but oval racing cats will turn more quickly than a mono can. On a large course this is less of an advantage. Cats are far better platforms for twin motor installations than most monos.

I'm a mono kind of guy. They do have an slight advantage in rougher water and in the wind. I have only owned one cat, the Graupner Key West. I loved that little boat. For years it was about the only boat run in a couple of Offshore classes, at least at the Michigan Cup.Comment

the pursuit is a decent boat as long as you get it from ose here as it has the upgrades over the china version.then you just need a decent radio. The impulse has been getting decent reviews as well but may have a leaking issue ive heard.either one is a good boat but I think the pursuit has more potential in the long run as its not an rtr boat..at least not the one on here lol.My vote goes to pursuit I love mine now that its setup ok.Comment

Not bad, if you don't mind replacing most everything it comes with, from the flex shaft to motor and esc!
You get what you pay for.If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?Comment
