1717 in a Proboat 1/8 gas Miss Bud

A friend just bought one of the Castle 1717's and a Hydra Ice XL 240 33.6v.
Questions for all of the experts here are,
Will this setup work in a gas Miss Bud?
    Will stock hardware work allright?
Is 6S1P 5000mah going to be enough juice?
What prop should we be starting with?
Is a 1527 more suitable to this application?
What speeds should we expect? 50mph? 60mph?
I appreciate any advise that will keep us from building a grenade.

    Thanks
    Greg

The 1717 is likely too small. The finished all up weight of the boat will be around 18 to 20 lbs. Even a 1527 1.5y will likely not carry that kind of load. I am currently using a 5692 Leopard on 10S and another member of my club is using a Castle 2028 on 9S.

The strut and rudder hardware will work, the turn fin is junk and must be replaced with a larger and more robust unit.

Using the search button, look for Make A Wake. Go to his profile and look at all threads started by him. He used a Castle 2028 in an 1/8 scale Bud.

I agree a bigger motor is needed for that hull and on 8s-10s
that motor will work great in a 40 size hull..

I was afraid that motor would be too small.
Thanks for all of the input.

I converted a 46" Purple Light hydro gas to brushless. I used a Leopard 5692 730KV motor, Castle hydro ICE HV 200, with (6) Red Leapord 14.8 V batteries - 12S2P - & a Octura X462 prop. It hit 65.5 MPH on my GPS before it crashed & it was only at 90% throttle. Lession is: Do not use a turn fin if top speed is your game - mine caused the crash. I made it too thin, my bad. It will corner a bit slow but will hual A$$. RTR boat weighed in at 23#. JIM
