    Wire drive sizing

    32" Pursuit boat
    4074 Leopard
    3/16" Shaft
    .078" wire

Will this wire hold up or is it to small???

I was told I needed .188" Flex Cable with my 3/16" prop shaft to hold up.

The wire drives that Jeff Wohlt makes for the Spartan are .078", This is on Leopard 4082 motor on 6s. I believe they are working with no problems. On the Pursuit you may want to look at whether theirs to steep a curve in the stuffing tube for a wire drive as i believe the motors are further back in the boat if its a stock rtr boat. Martin.

      Thanks Martin for the input.

My boat is an open slate- bare hull.

With your confirmation I just ordered up all the stuff I needed to get her done. Cant wait. Going to start laying the CF down this week!

With the wire drives try & keep the bend or curve in the stuffing to a minimum & get the motor as far foward as possible with your given setup so the wire drive goes around the curve gently. I find they also work better with a teflon liner, They run smoother with less heat & friction than running against a brass stuffing tube. Martin
