    Paint Type - ABS Plastic

I have a Proboat Shockwave i'm considering painting, Im just wondering what paint would be best to use from a spray can? I of course want something durable that wont chip or peel easily, I was thinking of painting with a R/C car body paint that i know would be durable and flexible and then covering it with a clear enamel of some sort. I plan to mask off the edges and the bottom of the boat and leave them in the original white plastic so as to minimize chipping on the heavily traffic-ed areas.
This is only my 4 or 5th boat so i do not have any experience painting as my previous ones i just put the decals on and never painted them, this time i want to paint my boat to make it more unique and a brighter more easily seen color.
    TIA

I did an abs HotShot tunnel hull with duplicolor auto touch up paint, I used the adhesion promoter for plastic, supposed to keep the paint stuck as the plastic flexes. Sanded the hull with 220 wet then cleaned it with prep wipes.
    Turned out well.
I really don't like that Krylon stuff, I've seen a number of boats done with it and I'm not impressed with how that stuff seems to react to itself, even if you follow the directions exactly I wouldn't trust it!
Way cooler colours with the duplicolour line, as well as a number of special effects paints.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I used Tamiya paint on my micro hydro and it worked fine.

I have used the Pactra paint on both abs and fiberglass with good results. This is the same paint used on the inside of car lexan bodies.
        24 R/C vehicles and still counting...What budget?

Thanks for the help guys, I masked it all off this morning and used the pactra RC car paint i had (purple) its looking pretty nice, going to let it dry another hour or so then put some decals on it and then clear it, I just scuffed it up with some 400 grit sand paper and sprayed my last coat real dry, All i could find was testors clear laquer so i hope there are no adhesion problems, i did a test on the boat stand with it ad a piece of the decals to make sur etheres no lifting or wrinkling and it looks like i may come out with a nice finish, Just debating on weather or not to use the blue or the yellow decals seeing as the hull is candy purple and white, i'm thinking the blue will look best but the yellow will pop more so maybe i will go with the yellow instead. I'll post some pics when i finish up if anyone cares to see the results.

Heres a few shots while the clear is still drying,,, The decals under the clear was a bad idea i will have to re-do the canopy later you can see the edges peeled up some and you cant see its kind of milky in the clear spots, horrible decals for this boat, i read somewhere they were easy to apply,,, NOT!!

Thanks Rich, Yes im sure Pactra does make a clear they just don't have it at hobby lobby.
i went with the blue decals I like the final outcome so far a few more decals and i'll need to find some thin light blue pinstripe to run around my ruff masking edges. (ye sthe tip of my bow is mangled from runing way to fast a boat in a 40,000 galon swimming pool lol.
