    rigger queston

    when mounting sponsons to tub how much do you want the sponson below the tub? thanks for putting up with my questions.

    it just has to be enough to lift the tub out of the water when on plane, an inch or so is most likely enough.

      thanks for the quick reply. does the pads on the back have to be the same hight as the bottom of the sponsons to make tub level on plane?

          I dunno about that, not all riggers have pads, mine doesn't. but if you want it to be level on plane it's most likely a good idea.

            What's the strut depth? depends on the entire design, you want the tub to ride level. Use your experience with other riggers and check out other peoples boats and any plans you have and do something similar. Even then depending on the setup it may be wrong, the joys of designing a boat, could put tons of effort into something that doesn't work! All the good ones have been refined over time and testing, build it run it and start designing a new one to fix the problems, repeat until you're happy!Took 3 very experienced guys quite a while to get the JAE to where they were ready to call it finished.Always exciting to hear about a new design nearing completion.
            If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
