    Aquajet tweaks???

    Hello everyone,

took out the aquajet on Saturday after modifying a graupner 2318.43.5 with 61mm total pitch prop to fit.
the weather was just too nice not to go. Made a video and was wondering if you guys see anything from your experiences that I could try.
    I thought it did well.
The only thing I noticed different from the 2317.42 is that it was a little slower on take off. I have a 2327.42 with 67.2mm total pitch to try but thought it might be too much.
I also straightened the rudder alignment to I think about 90 degrees. It was out at the bottom slightly, before it used to be sloppy in turns and now it seems better.
The cooling never worked well before but now the prop is just in front of rudder and it seems to get water now. Before it was a good distance in front of rudder. This prop is a screw on type for a 4mm shaft, I just drilled it thru and run the threads all the way thru so it would screw on far enough to clear the rudder.
Was wondering if it is too "wet" and maybe this is why it handles better?
    here is the video link

    open to suggestions
    thanks

      Hi,
it has the jeti600 and graupner 700bb 8.4, with your flex coupler
      sorry
left it out of post cause the info is on video
the more I watch it on video the more it looks like it is being pushed down in the front, On my 17 ft crestliner that is exactly what it should do when you move the bottom of rudder inward. It was out past vertical before at the bottom
It used to have your 2317.42 upgrade prop it now has a 2318.43.5

Its running like most aqua jets. the prop shaft angle keeps the boat running pretty wet. Not much you can do about that. On 12 cells I have run that boat with a x642 and 700sc. It ran quite well. With 16 cells I wouldn't run to high of a pitch prop.

            Thanks Steven,

I need to clear up your last sentence

"With 16 cells I would run to high of a pitch prop"

do you mean I should or should not run a higher pitch prop?

the X642 you mentioned is 67mm pitch and the one I am running now is 61mm.
And its not even getting hot even with the longer run times, of course the water is cold.

I probably should run a lower pitch prop huh?

I'm learning enough to be dangerous but this is the fun right?
            thanks again

Sorry about the typo. You're correct.

If the setup is not hot, you can step up in pitch. A bit at the time.

Not sure how you put the threaded prop exactly on the shaft? With or without the drive dog? I would suggest still using the drive dog, not to lock the prop but for its tapered nose.

                  Hi all,
                  thanks for the input

I milled off the tapered nose and drilled and retapped the same threads all the way thru. Otherwise the nose would hit the rudder. Used the drive dog just as a backer. I figured with the counterclockwise rotation and the right hand threads that it would never come off or spin and it did'nt. These props I have came with the boat.

Thanks FE Chris, this is my first boat besides a hammer which is getting upgraded...need to finish it.
