    Wire drive woes.

Just wanted some advice on a wire drive setup. I've used them before but this time I'm having problems running one in a miss geico RTR hull. I've tried FighterCat and Jeff Wohlts .078 wire drives. But so far they don't seem to work right for me.
The first one sized up in the strut on the first MG I tried it on. I just tried a new wire in a 2nd MG and the strut get hot within 3 seconds so I know it will get worse.
When I turn the wires in my hand the shaft has a wobble to it. I tried to get the wire and shaft to be in perfect alignment and the wire straight but that's pretty difficult.

Are there any tips anyone can give me on something to try?

Probably to much bend on the wire portion.

Hmmmm....something is not right. I have the same hull here and will try to fit one and see. I really do not know how many use them for that boat since most just order a wire drive and fit them. Are you running teflon?

Yes sir. It has a Teflon liner in it. Seems to be heating up the strut where the shaft goes through.
I've loaded it up with grease too.

Is the bearing a bit tight? Also when running with thrust on it...actually in the water most any wire contact should be less. As far as strut...if it does not move freely then sand the stub a bit so it has more clearance for the bearing.

Jeff tthe strut bushings stock on those are garbage. I woud try to drill it out and install lead teflon bushings or set it up like a speedmaster floating bushing.

Why not just run a flex cable?
Check the motor collet for runout as well as the wire drive/prop shaft.

I have a speedmaster bushing I thought about installing after the stock one wears out.
