What are you running now? Motor, prop, speed? How fast do you want to go? I can give you my 88 mph setup - but I doubt you'd be happy with the run time......

        I would be happy cracking 60/65mph with a bit of run time 3/4 minutes maybe at present leopard 4074 1400kv 6s1p 2 x 4000 nano tec 35/70 c packs x 4 but only use 2 at a time
Hydro Marine 42mm prop I think its x442
short of 50 mph at a guess now ist running flatter don't get me wrong it goes well puts a grin on my face anyway.
I need to order the prather 230 prop like you recommended for this setup
I'm just getting greedy for speed, always want more, Oliver twist, you know how it is!
would be nice to keep the same motor and run more voltage, but another motor would be ok if needed, but cheeper would be better for this, as im tempted with a twin 41" FC on 4092

I crashed mine at over 80 mph several times without damage. These are tough hulls! I did however mount everything very stout, the hull will fail before the motor mount comes off for example.

OP, the 1400 Kv motor will work on 7S, but keep the smaller prop at first. Upgrade would be an x642. The Prather prop is probably too much for 7S if you want much run time, but it would be fast.

What amp load would you estimate this setup to be pulling on the smaller x442 and then on the x642 just wondering if i could still use my fathfull etti 150A 2< 7s esc just orderded 2 x 4s packs, so no turning back 7s 1400kv
just hope i dont have to buy a bigger esc now.

Maybe the etti 150A is asking too much on 7s, but it does say 2s to 7s lipo
the T180 say 2s to 6s and can run on 6s withe the red wire cut and connected to an battery

so can i use a battery on the etti bec like people do with the T180 on 6s would that work ok for the 7s

Just for your info I have a heap of 3s 3300mah nano tech packs, 45-90c, and you can fit 8 of them in the river cat hull, so with the right kv motor you could go 12s13200mah or 6s26400mah. This would give some awesome run times. It's quite heavy, but the transom is still above the water line and quite happy, you'd want to be driving it with some power tho. An 880kv T600 on 12s would give you over 5kw of power if needed, or the 1400kv (there is 2 in the for sale area now) on 6s, all for under $60.

Looking at your pics it looks like you got 3s 4000mah packs in the one sponson no probs, can you just add 2 more batteries to the other side and make it 6s2p? That would give you 16000mah? As fas as rpm's go there are some vids on YouTube, look up htnba1, he has run up to 12s on his 1600kv leopard (not recommended, saw use only) but 9s no problems. 9s on your motor still brings you in under 50krpm, but doesn't help you with your esc which is only 7s capable, you'd want to prop down a but to start with.

It's really one of those situations where you need some different parts to optimize your combination, Try it on 7s with your new packs and see how you go, Fightercat has some 8s/300a esc's under development, if you try 7s and want to go up to 8 on your current setup, that's one way you could do it. Keep us updated on how you go, it's a nice build you have here and thanks for sharing.

                    Thanks 6boost

Your right they are 3s 4000mah 35/70C packs I have 4 of these and 2,x 4s packs on the way
will try out 7s 8000 mah 7s1p see how it goes, then like you say i could use 7s2p I think they might fit!
I also have a T600 3740 1760kv to try, but need to get the new 8s 200A esc from FC
                    will keep you updated.

How high is the strut regarding sponsons?
The HOTR cat works perfectly with 2x3S serial, and 540XL size 1500kV motor. Octura X442, X642, M445, M545, Prather S220, S225.... you can choose.
For me a X642 and S220 are great with that setup

wouldn't it be 12s 6600mah? 3S*2=6S*2=12S, that's 4 cells so you can only make two of those packs, so 12S2P
