Steering boot on stuffing tube?

Anyone ever try to put a steering rod boot over the end of a stuffing tube to stop water from coming up?

I've never tried it, but I would think that the boots being long and thin might twist with the flex. So far shrink tube works the best for me.

I use an automotive vacuum cap. Works perfectly.
