    newbie needs help

Im new to this site and this hobby. i fly planes but havent messed with boats. I apologize in advance for not explaining properly. I am scratch building a outrigger style boat and am not running it in competition. i just want a fast, fun boat. the questions i have is what size brushless do i need for this and what prop and battery? I plan on a 120 amp speedo and metal gear high speed high torque servo.also where should CG be? Heres the specs on my creation. 22in tip to tail, its 4in wide, and 2 3/4 deep. Sponsons are 10 1/2 long by 1 1/2 wide, Dont have a weight yet because havent started building. want to get everything first. Also i will be putting two skis at the rear and fins to help get the back end up faster. Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Welcome to OSE and to FE boats! That is a pretty small FE boat by modern standards. Depending on how much you want to spend, a Fiegao 8S or similar motor with a Kv between 4000 and 4600 would work on 2S power for minimum $$$ outlay. You will find that many FE riggers don't use skis or wings to get the transom up - unlike nitro boats they have instant power to do that with the prop. Rear skis or pads are used to maintain the hull's aoa to reduce blow offs.

Here are some builds for the JAE 12, a similar-sized rigger.

Nope, and welcome, a rigger is a hard boat to setup and to scratch build it is highly commendable as an entry into FE boating.....some of the rigger lads may help you out.

The best advice I can give you is to try and make your first boat all about fun. The best way to do that's by getting something second hand mostly setup by an experienced boater. This way you avoid the frustrating process of trial and error, witch is also expensive. Once you get some fun time driving and some experience working on that boat tackle a build. This is advice I probably got years ago but shrugged off. In retrospect many hours at the workbench could have been spent on the lake....not to mention money wasted on building that could have gone to hot motors and big old battery packs.
                Just my 2 cents.
