    Hobbyking Surge Crusher

I am interested in to buy this boat from hobbyking http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=12489 . What's yours reviews for this boat. The motor and esc worth? The hull?
And the main difference with this http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dproduct=11959 are only the electronics.

Difference is the Super has uprated motor & higher amp esc (90amp), The yellow one has a smaller motor & only i think from memory a 50amp esc. Someone i know has the yellow one & the hull runs quite nicely & quite fast now hes got it trimmed ok, But he burnt the 50amp esc within 4 runs on 4s, Replaced it with a Seaking 90amp esc & i herd had now burnt that one also. The hulls are also very thin indeed.

It comes with 2 40mm props and the esc has a bec. Depending on the bateries the boat rund pretty close to 40mph out of the box. I would reinforce the area around the motor mount because they are known to crack there and set the bottom of the strut level with the bottom of the boat. I have modded mine a lot and the driveline and esc and motor are all new but it is the boat I run the most out of all of mine and I absolutely love it!

I have owned one (yellow one) as well. I would say on the plus side it is really a great handling boat. I was shocked at how well the hull works. On the minus side the hull is very low quality and will crack on you etc. The electronics (mainly the esc) had to be replaced almost right away. It was a fun boat to play with ,but eventually the hull got to beat up and I tossed it. If you are expecting it to have the finish and polish of a Super Vee, Miss Geico or something of that nature then you will be disappointed. Otherwise not bad for the money...

            Hi again,
i finally received the boat, it is very fast i can tell. But it takes a lot of water inside the hull. Any idea from where it might get in?

I assume your taping the hatch 100%, These boats also have an unusual stuffing tube being just ptfe apart from where it enters the hull where it goes into a short piece of alloy tube. They can leek around this tube, Also make sure the flex is very well greased as the flex is quite a loose fit in the ptfe tube & water goes up the tube into the boat.

Any idea for which number to put in timing setting? The motor is the stock and turnigy marina 120A esc.

Hi newbie here, planing to get one 50Amp Surge crusher from hobbyking also. Is that true that the stock esc burn easily? Heard from my friend say, playing boat is like this one. Esc can burn anytime without warning, no matter what esc u use. This all depend on luck he say.

Is it true? Correct me if I am wrong.

                      Thanks

Im afraid a lot of these cheapish rtr boats dont have particularly good equipment in them but being relatively cheap the boat (with a bit of work & some of the hardware is ok ). Most buy these boats with the intension of upgrading the esc, motors & props for more speed & better reliability. Boats like the rtr Aquacraft & Proboat for example are better made with better equipment in them but their more expensive though.

The stock 50amp esc, is very good, i read in different forums that it burnt after 2 times, 5 time, 5 minutes, etc. Personally i didn't have any problem with it. I ran with it about 6 months and no problem it still works great. The only problem is with cut off, it cuts to low the volt/cell, just when it reduce the power stop the boat. That's the only problem for me, which i think it's very simple to solve.

I personally heard this also, saying the stock esc burn very fast. So I order extra esc from HK, the birdy 70A esc.
