Re-using wire drive stub shaft question

How can I remove the old glue from the inside of a stub shaft?
Bought a wire drive a while ago and it arrived bent, I'd like to replace the wire so it isn't a total loss.
LOL the coupler I ordered with it doesn't fit a motor shaft OR the wire on the other end!
I'd like to salvage something out of the bunch of junk I ended up with!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

I make my own wire drive shafts & stubs & do change the wires before they break through fatigue as a piece of piano wire is pennies to replace over breaking one & loosing a prop, stub & ball bearings. I use Loctite 603 to bond them in, To undo them i heat the stub in the bonded area then twist the wire whilst pulling out. They do come out fairly easy once the Loctite is brocken down with heat. You dont need to get it that hot to break the bond, Once the wire is out simply use a drill bit to clean old loctite out of the hole. Martin.

Perfect! Wasn't sure if a simple mechanical cleaning was enough or if I needed to break out the mega toxic dissolve all solvent to get the residue out of there.
      Thanks

Make sure you get good quality piano wire like K S as its nice & straight & round. Some of the model shops certainly in the UK stock other brands that are normally cheaper but its not straight or round. If you look down it when twisting between your fingers you can see its not straight it has a kind of spiral twist in it. Its also to hard & brittle compared with K S wire.

I can only get K&S around here, another good thing to do is roll the shaft blank across a glass sheet, you can hear as it rolls if it has any bend in it, Used to do this back in the day but with 3/16 shafts before people began using flex shafts! Solid shafts with universal joints and all sub surface drives on monos.
