Hull Suggestion - Castle 1515 motor, Choppy Water

So I have pulled my Castle 1515 out of my Spartan. I think it's too much for that hull to handle. So I'm searching for hull that could take the 1515 on 6S. I also run on a large lake that is almost always choppy. No whitecaps or anything, but never glass. Since I already have the mono deep v in the Spartan, I was thinking of a Hydro or a Cat. Just not sure those would be good in chop, and whether any of them can handle the 1515 on 6S.

I don't need to go 100mph. If i could got 45-50 and keep er stable, I'd be happy.

    Suggestions?

NO! The Castle 1515 is NOT a 6s boat motor! 4s only!

If you want a cat, build a Aeromarine Mean Machine. Hydros are no good in that much chop.

I got a Mean Machine complete hull and hardware up in the shop that would be perfect for that 4s 1515 setup. I had a 4074 2200kv in it as well as a 3674 1300kv 6s setup. 4074 hauled really nicely and 50s is definitely attainable. Sorry for the shameless plug...lol but Rumdog is right.

If you want to run 6s, get a Nue 1515/1.5/Y 1500kv. Your Castle 2200kv is a 4s boat motor like Ryan said. You can get away with 6s on that motor in a car/truck, but not in a boat. Another 6s motor is a Leopard 4082 1500-1600kv. (Same motor I think). As for a hull, try a Delta Force Cyberstorm, a DF 33, a DF Pirate, Insane 34, or a China man Genesis hull. Check out www.fightercatracing.com for the cat hull. Or check out the Aeromarine stuff as said above. Id stick with a mono for chop though. IMO, they are the best all around boats for chop and speed. Some cats are good too. Just do some research.

Right, I have learned that. 4S with that motor. And Prop up for more speed, correct?

"Hydros are no good in that much chop."

Damn, I was really thinking a Hydro would be sweet. I saw a Ms Elam for sale the other day that I wanted to jump on. Heres a video that I hope looks OK. This will be my first attempt at uploading a video. This was a day the water looked calm until I got the boat in the water. We've had calmer days than this too.

Yeah, I run on water like that too sometimes and you definitely need a mono or a big cat. The DF Pirate would work well I would think but you would want a bigger motor that a 1515 I would think. A DF Cyberstorm has to be one of the best looking monos out there imho. With your powerplant it should run well.

With a 1515/1y on 4s, for a cat I'd go with a Mean Machine and for a mono I think the Rico Racing 29'' or 31'' is one of the best handling boats of it's size in choppy water.

I second the Rico with the 1515 1y on 4s. I've had a MM and its a great boat but IMO it won't handle a moderate chop as well as the Rico. If you run the Spartan hard, the hull's days are probably numbered. I've seen two Spartan hulls get trashed in the last two months.

Your 1515 would push an Aeromarine challenger 31" into the mid 40's. Its said to eat up rough water.

Guys, I probably should have mentioned that I have zero boat building experience. So I'd be looking to get a Hull and Hardware combothat I could just drop my 1515, Seaking 180A ESC, and a rx/tx into. Steve has some nice bare hulls on here, I just wouldn't trust myself to build one from scratch. I'm coming from a Spartan. It's nice to just open the box and go. I've been watching the For Sales waiting for something to pop, just haven't seen anything yet.

What about this new Impulse 31? Anyone have any ideas on how my combo would work in that boat on 4S? Would it keep up with my Spartan that's running 6S with the upgraded Castle Motor/ESC they are putting in there now?

if your scared to build a boat (like i am) and you would like a nice clean boat built then i suggest getting in touch with tony goes by properchopper on here he builds awesome boats and imo not over the top on what he charges, i personally have had a insane FE30 built by him and getting a insane 34 deep v mono which should be ready very soon then i have my next one which is another fe30. HIS WORK IS AWESOME THATS ALL I CAN SAY check the thread "going insane at RCBOATBUILD" he has a selection of boats that he has built.
