I have a df 33 and I noticed. I was getting a lot of water in it in a very short time so I took it home throug it in the bath tub noticed I had a drip here and there by my trim tabs but then I noticed the big problem especially when I would move it. I have water coming in through my stuffing tube. I was running a .187 flex shaft but never got to see how that worked cause I forgot to tighten it so I ordered a wire drive. Also I bought the boat used and it doesn't have a teflon liner not sure if any of this matters or not but someone has had to of had this problem and hopefully someone can tell me how to fix it.

The stuffing tube in your picture is correctly spaced; it should enter the transom plate but not the stinger, otherwise you'd lose the adjustability. If you run teflon, the teflon can enter the stinger since it can flex to allow adjustments. There should be an O-ring between the plate and stinger which helps keep water from creeping in. You can use a vacuum cap or a piece of silicone tubing to seal the motor end of the cable to the stuffing tube, and marine grease on the cable also helps. BTW if you go wire drive, you'll likely need to go smaller diameter on the stuffing tube.2008 NAMBA P-Mono & P-Offshore Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder; '15 P-Cat, P-Ltd Cat 2-Lap

Yes it is wire drive an there is no teflon liner in it. There is a rubber oring which may be worn a little and not creating a good seal. I've never had thisproblem with any of my boats before. I did pull the deck and the stuffing tube is almost flat which makes me wonder if that's part of the problem

Problem solved. I ended up moving the stuffing tube into the strut and it no longer leaks. Granted ill lose some adjustmet but to me its worth it. I can still make minor adjustments just nothing drasticmiss gieco cc 1518 62.1mph [/COLOR][/B] Delta Force 33" cc 1717Comment
