    Short runtime

Hello all, I been having short runtime but don't know why?I have charged my batteries at low rates and fast rates. I have an new prophet plus charger my batteries are racers edge nicd 2400mah, 2200mah, and 1500mah duratrax shark.Runtimes are as followed, 2400mah 2min, 2200mah 4min, 1500mah about 45 sec.My boat is a proboat sw26 with 19t trinity komodo dragon motor stock esc.Could i have gotten bad batteries or charger?Anyone have any ideas?I have let the batteries peak a couple of times on charge but they never really get warm. Thanks

how much time between charging the cells and running the boat? my 1st thought was I'll bet that motor gets mighty warm...I would try dropping your prop size down a bit, say a 432, for say 8-12 minutes total elapsed run time to let the motor and drive train wear in(you may find that boat runs faster w/ the smaller prop) then if you feel more prop is needed try a 632
Still waiting for my boat to come in.it came in

I have let the batteries rest for a day or so and i have also charged and went to the water in like 30 min.The prop is about the same overall diameter as the stock plastic one small increase in overall pitch. The boat did this when i had the stock motor and prop too.I do not know the exact temp. of the motor but you can hold your hand on it and not get burned but it is warm. The esc was cooler than the motor. What would be a good charge rate/time for these batteries? Thanks

how old are they, i am having similar problems i have been charging and discharging my batts 1 amp for the last day or so the cells can balance, i charged them up at 4 amps today and got 28 mph out of my sv27 powered bby oval master 26, seemed rather slow for that combo

Hi steveo, Well i have a mix age of batteries, the 2400mah is the oldest about 2yrs, the 2200mah i just bought in jan of this year, and the 1500mah is about a month or so old.If iam not mistaken that set up should run in the mid to upper 30's right how about run time? Thanks for the reply

heh the norm is to run the cells/boat within 5 minutes of taking them off the charger(unplug, plug, tape and go :)).
            charge rate
no more than twice the cell capacity 2400 <=4.8a, 1500 <=3a. at a guess I'd say that a 4 min run time is likely pushing the cells close to the limits(2400 mah) if you are running at 30a draw.
            edit
            hmmm smily coodes have changed
