It looks like it fell and did some pretty good damage to the front sponson and he has no way of fixing it himself. I feel your pain Diego, I was going to convert a 1/12 Bud but it fell and I had no idea how to repair it myself
Take it by a local paint and body shop and see if they could "hook you up"... I could do it for you for free if you want to pay for shipping to and from??
That really sucks.. Sorry, Diego..
Nothing like keeping you lipos warm and your prop wet!!
Hey guys, its not that hard to fix or repaint, just a little down time and few$$ in materials... I see Diegoboy doing nice things on this forum all the time.. I just wish he were close, so I could just teach him how to do some basic F/Glass repair..
I have a 46" Enforcer Team Pro V-Hull Gasser, that my buddy t-boned with his 55" Manta Ray V-hull... It put a hole in the side and bottom of my boat, the size of your fist!!! I have repaired it and she is still running strong!!
I agree DOBY , lets keep Diegos 1/8 ALIVE and with its master!!
Nothing like keeping you lipos warm and your prop wet!!
Deigoboy, I got a question for ya. Do you want to learn fiberglassing and body work? IF so what do you have to lose by trying it? You really cant damage it more than it is. Its really not that hard. All you need is glass cloth, Epoxy resin, sand paper and a little icing. (thinner bondo). You can butcher a hull really bad and still get it to like new condition. I hit a sea wall at full throttle with a cat i splintered the hull from the tip sponson all the way to the hatch It mushed the sponson in 1.5 inches. Fixed it in a week no big deal. Give it a shot.
My disclaimer in my signature may come across like sarcasm, but in fact it's not. I may even sound like I know what I am doing or saying, but in fact I stand on the shoulders of giants (on this forum) Fluid, Steven, D Smock, Darin, Reddy, Jeepers, Eyekandy, Doby, SJFE, just to name a few.
I'm merely trying my best to learn about a hobby I love.
I would love to learn some FG work, but this is not the project I want to say "Oops, I know not to do that next time" It was really devastating to me when I heard the crash, and found her on the carpet. I was relieved when on first inspection, I saw no damage...till I saw the right sponson. I knew it was over. I honestly think she'll be better off in the hands of someone that, one, wants to have a boat like her, and two, is good at FG work.
I was so saddened by this accident, I have contemplated selling my Mini-cat so that I can justify financially a freebie of my SC21. Those freebies always put me in a good mood!
Tx that is a really cool thing to do. I would probably do that but I have zero experience with Fiberglass. Well I did work on a swimming pool slide but thats it. I like to do a lot of things and learn as I go because it really does make you feel good about what you've done.
Diego; "shoulders of giants"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wow, I'm flattered as I'm sure the rest are as well. This whole hobby is a trial and error for everyone. Everything we get right and everything we screw up is a lesson learned. Get it fixed and move on. We will all be there to help along the way.
There has got to be someone near you that can do the repair if you don't feel up to it,,,or better yet, take up TX's offer to fix it for you. A few bucks for shipping could be a worthwhile expense.
Hey Diego... that damage is minimal, meaning it can be repaired in a few hours and thats waiting for cure time! fiberglass is so easy to repair. if you can build the boats you can repair that thing. go to the nearest autobody supply store and show them the damage they can point you in the right direction.
