    Brushless Jet Drive

Will My 8xl Run A Graupner Jet Drive. The One Is Only Rated For A 600 Motor At Best But While I Have The Parts Here At Home Curiosity May Shred The Cat.

Yes it will, but its overkill, unlike a surface drive you can only push an impeller to a certain RPM before it stalls and your thrust level goes down, so after a point you can chuck a lot of watts at it without getting a performance improvement, you would be able to use more of the motors potential power in the 700 or 800 version but it may require a gearbox or higher turn motor to keep the RPM in check on a decent number of cells

On the other hand you may be happy with similar thrust to the 600 if it had less cells drag around, (when I say similar I dont know these particular drives well enough to know that the stall RPM is or the power needed go get there, if its 200W stock it should have some leeway but I cant say whether it will take 250W, 300W or 400W, but if you throw the full 1KW that an XL can take at it you will be throwing over half the power away and it may be fastest at under half throttle).

Don't let me put you off tho, I would be interested to find out how many cells its worth putting behind an 8XL in a 600 jet drive, as the 8XL has a known KV that would tell us the max RPM it can take and that will help anyone following you select the right motor for the task, especialy so if you can time a run and tell us how many amps it uses at that voltage and rpm.
