Why are you saing positive angle will push the boat down? It should work the way to get the boat up....
This is confusing my thinking ....

BTW, we never said that it didn't do anything, but that too much positive angle will push the whole boat down because the trust line changes.

Either ways he couldn't add any more positive angle because his strut was already all the way up, the problem is that .81 engine weights a ton and it's probably mounted too forward.

You are right, there is many factors involved.
Lets say this is the perfect scenario.....
What will the positive angle do and what will the negative angle do?

What boat? What system are you talking about running? Race conditions? Weight of the boat? Size of the hull? Prop?...clear some obscurity please...

If it IS the PERFECT scenario then why would you need to change ANYTHING at ALL!?

I gave my Vanquish 41" to a friend and he mounted an OS Max .81 in it, the hook from the back has been removed but the boat still runs wet probably because the weight of the motor and the position in the hull.

It doesn't matter though, our conversation at the pond was from the theoretical point of view, not necessarily related to any specific boat.

I had read this article a while ago and hence the the confusion, Lipo was right and we were (both) wrong:

First image is what made me think about strut angle initially, but it refers to submerged drives I guess...

I am not getting deep in to the rocket science details of boat set up but do I have my thinking right?
Ok, if your boat is running wet, would you decrease ( down ) the angle of prop strut or increase ( up )?
                  No trim tubs.
                  Thanks
                  yes add positive angle

On my full size boat I am constantly adjusting the trim angle. In chop or waves I lower the bow (trim down) to smooth the ride and stop the boat from bouncing. On flat water I raise the bow (trim up) to increase speed and unload the motor. I also trim down when starting out to help get the boat on plane faster. Then start trimming up once I'm on plane.
Taking a ride in a full size boat really helps you understand the effects even a little bit of trim adjustment can have on a boats ride, rpms, speed and fuel economy.

                        Great info...
In this scenario you are getting the results by adjusting your trim tubs...
Your strut angle is neutral I suppouse..?
