    Thanks Heath for

finally some usefull ideas to check over to start to eliminate areas that are wrong.

easy for people to say setup's wrong with out saying why or what in particular makes
makes it wrong as still trying to learn

will try the different props as suggested and check timing
as well as the other suggestions

should certainly put me in the right direction

    thanks heaps

      thanks for the help
will try the other props as suggested

yet to check on the timing
and will compare the sizes of the sea king esc to see if it will fit

      thanks a lot

what brand of esc are you using with that sort of setup

the turnigy brand batteries are they entry level
and should a different brand be used if going down to a single battery or will they be sufficient while i am still learning ?

        thanks for the help

            Leopard 4074 / 2150 on 4S and a 47mm prop: waaay more than 125A.
I have a similar hull with this motor, using a 200A Swordfish, 4S Zippy 5800 mA and an X440. This setup gets me in the 60kph area without anything getting hot. For a bit more speed, I use a 5S battery and an M442, getting a consistent 70-75kph, but the battery and ESC are getting warm...

Laddie, are you pulling our chain? You have not answered many questions as to your setup, motor, etc. Please review all previous posts and respond with your answers and yes your ESC and prop are a problem on your original setup and probably on 4S power

twin 3s batterires... What C rating, Mah and brand?

Get a Seaking/Turnigy 180 or swordfish 200. Run 4s. 2p preferrably. If 1p, then make sure they are high quality cells, at least 40c and 5000mah.
Lastly, prop down a bit. Start with a X442.

                    Martin,
I was using castle barra 125 amp and hydra 240 amp. I tried an etti esc but found that it didn't give out as much rpm as the castle esc's.
I've never used the turnigy batteries but would imagine they would be ok for fun running while your still learning. Andrew from fastelectrics.com looks to have good cells at a decent price if you want to upgrade. A single 4s pack is all you can race with here under the AMPBA rules so as long as you keep to the setup that has been suggested to you, you'll be fine, jsut go for the highest C rating you can get like Rumdog said.
Also see if you can find a download of FEcalc, it's a good tool for estimating speed and amp draw with motor and prop inputs.

                        high there douggie

the motor and drive train came with the boat

esc was one i had spare at the time

do not remember what brand the hardware is on the back seams good quality

                        since reading above posts
                        * looking at using the 4074-2150 leopard motor it came with was new with boat
                        * upgrading the esc to a 180 turnigy/ seaking or maybe a 200 swordfish
                        * using turnigy 5000 mah 45c 4s until finances allow for larger capacity battery
                        * will get one of the 42mm prop used to have one but think it was the one i lost in the smaller delta force 26 when the shaft broke

will look at using 5.5mm bullet connectors as well originally came with deans style connectors which have found out since are not much good for larger amps

Thank you for your response, I still think you have a motor/ESC/battery problem. All the best in solving this issue, as it can take time and patience.

douggie you say i still have a problem with setup

waiting to see what you would recomend

or suggest the setup should be to avoid issues you are talking of ?

what combo are you running yourself and what should i be looking at getting ?
