    outrunner on OB lower unit

    Getting ready to set up an outrunner on a lower unit and before it hits the water for the first time in a couple weeks or so,
    would Corrosion X be ok to spray into the motor before it runs the first time?

    thanks

    Absolutely. Afterwards dry it well with compressed air if you can, and reapply corrosionx.

        ACF-50 is a better choice. http://www.corrosion-control.com/pcp...s/acf-50.htmlf

          Carl, I just spray it in the motor, shake it out a bit and let it dry for a few minutes before running again, that's all...you will be fine!

            We've been running both inrunner (P spec) and outrunner motors on outboards for several years. Even WD-40 sprayed into the motors keeps them running. Our current inboard setups leave the motor exposed for cooling. Water doesn't seem to be a big problem with motors. I will be running in salty water soon so I'm not sure how well these precautions work in bad conditions.

              Lohring;
              I know what running nitro motors in salty water does to them.

              keep PLEANTY of wd-40 on hand and some good light weight oil ready to spray the heck out of them after EACH and EVERY run.
