Great thread! I'm looking at getting one when they come back in stock. The 2200 kv motor in it would go in my Geico.

You guys think running a 4082 1500KV motor do well in this hull on 6S? Not looking for anything blistering fast. Just fun and reliable system without breaking the bank. Specially now that HK carries 4074-4082 motors in multiple KV options for $40-$50 or so. Throwing a T180 with extra caps in it will also be on the list. If it gets in to the high 30's low 40's I would be happy.

That Leo setup on 6S would work fine. Just have to get prop right so you are not stressing the motor or esc. I would suggest an M445 or similar but it is really a personal choice. Short test runs and check temps is always the best way to start. Check out promise hobby as they have hulls and gear at good prices if you were keen on putting a mono together on a budget. It is all about fun and experimenting.

      Cheers

Promise hobbies, is that the ebay seller? Building a boat isn't a big deal. I've rebuilt my Miss Geico from a bare hull as well as rebuilt a 26" Prince. I was just thinking about getting an Osprey cause I like the look of the boat.

Yep that is the one. You can pick up a good looking carbon hull for a pretty good price.

Any idea if they still have that issue with the "hook" in the hull as described above with the HK model?

            Thanks for the help!

They are a better hull in that respect and by being carbon kevlar they are alot more bulletproof. The big mono they sell is running over 70mph with a CC2028 as power. The 39" hull with a 1717 or 5692 in it on would fly and be a great boat. 1717's were for sale at castle for 70.00 new the other day. I grabbed 4 but not sure if any are left. If not they always pop up in the swap shop.

Just a note; The Osprey's do need re-enforcement. Rails really help.

There's some mounts like Diesels available. The 1717 is a good sized motor for it.
There's going to be some mounts like the 1717 with rails for the 5692 soon. =)

They'll work in other v-Hulls as well. Or in any set of 4" rails.

If you see the 1717's for $70, please PM me or pick two up for me! I'll guarantee two at that price.

I had bought a 1717 when they were on clearance few months back and then sold it thinking I would not get to use it. Now I'm kicking myself over it.

I like the 39 and 47 but not sure on what size drive for ether boat. I see they sell a "combo" for the 47" boat but it doesn't say what size drive it is. Also, their shipping prices seem kind of fishy. Says one price up top and in the item description it's $10 cheaper, for the boat. They seem to sell a 3/16 drive for the 39" but its not too specific. I'll probably have to email them and see if they could put a hull/hardware package together for me.

HK sells 4 pole 5690 motors in 540kv, and 5674 motors in 800kv, and 1050kv. for $110-$120 but don't see an option for running 8S on a budget as far as ESCs go. Is there?

They are pretty good with the deals they so give them an email and see what they will do. The difference for me is the 47" boat I would run on 8S and with 1/4 drive gear and 39" on 6S with 3/16 drive gear. I like running higher voltage and lower KV but that does push up the cost. I would love to give the new fightercat esc a go. Great price and great support. So it is a personal thing and for humble opinion by a 39" drop in 1717 and run 6S and then grab the 47" drop in the Scorpion 5035/760 and shove 12S up its butt and hang on.

Depends on what you consider a budget. =)
