If you are running brushed 550's a Traxxas EVX2 marine ESC should handle them. Those motors are only rated for 6-8 cells(nimh) so keep that in mind. You can also run 2s lipo.
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

Thanks for the input. Will I need one esc for each motor? And on OSE, the nimh batteries are out of stock, what lipos should use?

You only need one ESC, it is wired for two motors. The EVX esc's come with a set of batt connectors for series connection. You only want 2s lipo..........you need to close the non-bec connector and use the other.

Good batt here since your motors will only draw around 15-20 amps:

Thanks again, and what radio/receiver should I use? I would prefer a non-pistol grip. Like the square kind (I don't know what they're called).

I found a few how many channels does it have to be? And will certain radios/receivers not work with the esc and stuff?

Get a 2.4ghz and you only need two channels. The only one i see that is 2 channel is a pistol, maybe you can get this and just use 2 of the 4 channels
