    Setup advice

I've got twin Feigao 540 8Ls in a 34" cat and Im trying to figure out the best setup. Looking for SAW speeds, not roundy-round speeds. What RPMs with they handle? I was thinking 4s with some x447s or maybe x457s (or are those too big?). Would 5s be too much for these motors?
    TIA

New setup- Etti 150A's, Turnigy 2600s, 5S, X442s and a whole lot of cooling hoses

They are going to be too big, I suspect X442s will be too though I haven't run twins, I used to run a single 9L on 4s on a de-tongued x637 it didn't have the torque for a x440 you could hear the revs were much lower as was the speed.

Your rpm on those motors is 45,465. Way too much. Especially for Feigao's. The bearings are garbage. The props you mentioned are too much for your motors too. If you want a fast 4s set up, try Arc 36-55-1's. Here is a link:

I think the 8L'S are a bit small for that size hull you maybe better off with twin 8XL'S I think 5s would totally destroy an 8l especially with the props your suggesting. If it were me I would most likely go with twin 4074 start off with x442 and go from there an m445 or x445 may work well good luck on your project
I also collect vintage rc buggies here is my blog http://acmracing-vintagerc.blogspot.com/

XL's are gonna be too long for my setup. Im running Etti 150s with cap boards attached in the sponsons, so space is limited. I was barely able to shoehorn these 60mm cans in there.

Have you looked at the 540L's I gave you a link to? I use them in a 32" twin cat and have been to 81 mph on GPS so far. Arc motors are much more efficient than Leopards and offer an outstanding warranty. I'm not discounting Leopard motors as I use them myself, but I will always choose an Arc if I need a 540 or smaller motor. They are next to Neu' s in quality and performance.

Yea I did, but like I mentioned, I have these 8L's I want to test the waters with before I drop some big bucks on high efficiency motors. If I can get 60+mph out of these, then I know Im on the right track and can upgrade later on. I just dont want to fry a $100 motor just yet..

Your motors are too high kv for 4s, even for twin drive. They are better suited for 3s. You are better off selling what you have now instead of burning them up. Use what you get to put towards something you can use that will get you to your goal. You won't fry the Arc motors I suggested. I run mine on 4s and when I run out of 4s pack set up's, I can run on 3s and still run 60mph.

What was your setup on the cat you were talking about?
