    Who's got the best ESC???

    Hey guys,
I burnt up my 180A in my Geico running a castle 2200kv...I knew it was inevitable...What ESC can I buy and not expect to have problems with while running that motor? Within reason, maybe up to $300

Need to know what kind of batteries you are running....
The RTR Nightmare- Electric King of Shaves
    Now with 540s- 62mph
New setup- Etti 150A's, Turnigy 2600s, 5S, X442s and a whole lot of cooling hoses

did you have a cap bank installed on the 180? Im assuming this is on 4s? What prop are you running. I was under the impression that esc should be able to handle that motor.

I think you're better off with a different motor for 6s. No controller will reliably run that setup.

Yep. That boat should run very well on 4s with that motor. You are over revving the motor building heat in it and the esc. If you want to run 6s, get a 1400-1600kv motor, though, I think you should stick with what you have, only run it on 4s. Use an external BEC or reciever pack.

Run 4s and use the top speed calc to choose a good prop to get you the speeds you want vs increasing the voltage. That motor should be able to handle a decent prop.

                  1.4x40x2200x16.8/36970=55mph

What kind of speed are you looking for? Then go from there...

Using that formula that way is a quick way to smoke you're equipment! It doesn't care about amp draw or anything, you can enter any value for a prop, rpm and voltage and it will calculate the potential top speed, NOT THE AMP DRAW! It doesn't give a furry rats ass if your equipment can handle it!
That equation and the little program I wrote is in no means intended to use as an aid in choosing equipment, it's only to get a good estimate of what a set up can potentially do. If you over prop thinking that you will get that speed regardless of your equipment it's entirely your fault! It does not calculate potential amp draw.
Use it at your own risk!

i totally agree. 48,000 rpm is almost useless. its just too much rpm for the prop to even do its job fully

Very true. You can't juust plug in the numbers and expect it all to go well. But the example I gave is well within the capabillities of the motor/esc combo above mentioned.

Next time I shal include that disclamer when using the formula for an example

                            hi
                            i use my esc 180A turningy with a bec turningy 7A since 8 month with leopar motor 4082 2200kv on 4s 5s and 6s.
with X447 and have no problem.
i only be carefull with my run time
when i use it with 6s , my run time was on 1.30 minutes.
this is a great esc but if you want more safe, you can tried Swordfish 240hv ESC.
