How would this motor differ from the AQ 1800kv one?

    Hi All,

While I'm waiting for a replacement to my MC motor (it's a long story), I found one of these on the wall at the LHS:

Tower Hobbies carries an expansive collection of RC cars, RC airplanes, RC boats, model trains, sot cars, and supplies for all hobbyists.

It's sold by Electrifly, which is, one way or another, related to Aquacraft (heck, there's an Electrifly decal on the MC when it comes out of the box), so how different is this motor from the MC (or stock SV27) motor.

It's the same physical size, and the same 1800kv speed. It claims it's good for a constant 1110w, but I imagine it's not a 6 pole motor.

I played it safe and steered clear of it. I ordered a spare stock replacement in the meantime, but it would be interesting to know your opinions of how this motor may have worked in the MC.

You are far better off with a replacement. That is a 2 pole motor, a good motor but, not as good as stock.

You could also use a AQ UL-1 motor or a MsG motor. All are excellent motors.
Watch for them to come on sale in the swap shop cheap!

I use that very motor in my Super Vee. Works fine. Can't tell any performance difference from the stock motor (38mph-gps) but is much quieter. Runs cool.

That motor is the same ( almost ) it is a six pole motor NOT 2 pole with better magnets, and has less cogging than the original blue SV motor, runs great, as I have one in my SV 27.

and like Fast Guy said, Much Quieter and runs cooler!
There is no replacement for displacement, I guess I just have to Buzz it higher!

Well geez, it was about $12 cheaper than what I paid for the MC motor, and I could have had it right away (instead of waiting until the 30th for it to come in).

Oh well. I was playing it safe.

I looked through my pile of boat stuff (amazing what I find when I do that) and found that I have an 1800kv one of these:http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=6526

I know I'll be itching to get out and bomb around with the MC this weekend, but with that 460w rating, I'm a bit scared to try the Turnigy for a run or two.

I do have a proper motor on the way, but I'm kinda impatient, and the sun will be shining tomorrow - unlike next weekend, when I'll be working.

Stinger, i have several of those 1800kv Turnigy's...........they are little beasts, very torquey and have vented endbells as you know. They are possibly the best bang for the buck in a 3656 motor in my opinion. Heck, i placed an order a couple weeks ago from Hobbyking and threw one in and didnt even have a boat for it!!
NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE: http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

I have never seen any information or specs showing the Ammo motor to be more than 2 poles. I could be wrong.

The 6 pole motors from AQ & PB are about 212Grams each, the Ammo & Feigao are approx. 282Grams each.

Typically a 2 pole motor will weigh more than the 6 pole PB & AQ motors by approx. 60 grams.

This is because of the higher amount of iron & copper needed for a 2 pole motor like a feigao or ammo.

                Show me the poles! lol...

The ammo 3650 2300 is a 2-pole. I thought the ammo inrunner series were all 2-pole.

I would just grab the ul1 2030kv motor.....
