    Removing Wood Stringers

I am going to remove the wood platform out of my miss geico, and lay down some fiberglass mat to strengthen the hull, plus add the heavy duty OSE motor mount for my 8xl. But I am not sure how to remove the original wood. Is there a way to loosen the glue? Or do I have to cut everything out?

    Thanks for the help

Not sure what they used but a lot of times heat will loosen just about any glue then you can try to cut it a little very carefully with an exacto knife to help free it up.

Okay, thank you guys. Sounds like there's no easy way and its gunna require some work haha

Well I have a couple different tips that i can use on my soldering gun, so I guess I'll try those then first start with an exacto knife, and if that doesnt work move on to the dremel.

maybe a sheetrock knife if you want to go that route I would not use a solder gun A heat gun yes but watch you don't soften the hull if you can get under the F/G tape holding the rails on, you can usually grab that and pull it off !!

            Fiberglass tape?

Would that be on the floor? Or will it be on the sides?

usually they use a 2 " tape,,,, F/G cloth finished to 2 ",,,, called tape to hold the stringers in if you look you will see it !!

I just gutted an Aeromarine SC40.
I used a fine hand saw to separate the 90' frame joins.. ran a firm blade along the seam edges of all stringers to cut the tape, and forced over to crack/break the other side.. pulled free then sanded the residual Fg and resin/epoxy.
                60 mins all done.

Yeah I did the same thing and got it all out. I used a cutting tip on my soldering gun to put a groove in the glue. And the used a putty knife to wedge between the hull and wood. I got it all out no problem, except for one spot where I accidentally pushed the soldering iron through the bottom of the hull. Oh well it's all fiberglassed now, and I just have to sand/fill the slice.
