    Traxxas Marine Motor

Does anyone know the rpm of thr Traxxas Marine 550 brushed motor using standard 9.6 v battery.--this is motor used in Villan EX.

I got one of these today and it doesn't "sound" as fast as the similar Aquacraft motor.
If you step on my tail, you had best make plans to deal with my teeth!!!

They're designed to operate on 14.4 volts.

Your looking at about 17000 rpm

Algar-if I read you right, it would be 17k if I use tye higher voltage-but only about 10k with 9.6 battery--

Guess I will put motor away until I build a tugboat--postage for returning is just not worth it.

with a 9.6V battery you will be getting 17000 rpm, as alexgar allready stated
to measure rpm you take KV (rpm per volt) * the number of volts, for you, it would be 1700*9.6 = approx 17000

                    Thanks Boaterguy--that's not to bad.
Any idea what rpm the Aquacraft 550 puts out??

The Aquacraft motor is a 27 turn fairly generic motor, makes about 100 watts of power and costs $13. You could consider a HPI SATURN 20 turn motor from Tower for $ 20. This motor is fan cooled and produces about 140 watts at 7.2 volts=a significant improvement and still very dependable. Make sure your esc will handle a 20 turn motor. BG

you need to know the KV of the motor, there are ways of figuring it out otherwse, I don't know how.

edite-mailed aquacraft-we will see what they say if a miracle happens and I get a reply.

I am assumong that if I use an escape rated for a 27 turn motor with a 20 turn motor the esc ill burn up. Is that the problem??

                            As per Traxxas-battery is actually 7.2 v--so I would only get 12000 rpm--not good.

Encoreman--looked at Duratrax esc for the HPI motor you recommended--tech notes say motor must have 2 .luv capacitors installed (whatever that means.

Question is--is the HPI motor so equiped???
