    a couple of cat questions

I've been having a bit of a play around with the cat now that I've removed the rails and I have a couple of questions. The twin mount's going to fit well and there's no chance I'm going to mount the motors in the sponsons.
*What's the performance difference between having 1 rudder mounted in the center (just behind)of the prop's or if I was to run the props as close as I can and use a 2 rudder system, one on each side of the prop's?
*With the speedmaster large struts, they didn't come with any type bushing, can some one either link me to a thread on how to set it up or fill me in? I'm still tossing up weather to run a 1/4" stuffing tube with 7/32" bushings or to run the 9/32" with teflon.
*With a cat, is it best to have a long drive shaft with less bend or a shorter shaft?
any advice or links would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Danny

You definately only need a single rudder mounted in the center. Will the struts be sponson mounted or tunnel? You can have the motors on the tunnel and bend the stuffing tube to allow for sponson mounted struts.
That's how I'd do it anyhow. I'm not a fan of twins with a pair of struts on the transom of the tunnel.

Also, don't waste your time with the teflon. It really is pointless.

I was thinking streight down tunnel. I see almost everyone has the struts from the sponson's but the one and only time I had the chance to talk to Remy, he said it would be better to have them as close as possible in the tunnel

I'll take your advise and run a 1/4" stuffing tube, would I just run a bit into the strut for easy removal and then make a 1/4" bushing to fill the rest of the strut, then make a 7/32" bushing?

So do you think I should be setting the motors for a longer driveshaft or does it not really matter too much?

If you are running a .187 flex drive I would use a 9/32nd stuffing tube without any teflon. If a quarter inch stuffing tube is a snuf fit on your strut would use that and leave about 3/4 inch sticking out. Then run the 9/32 tube inside the quarter inch tube, this makes it easy to make positive/negative adjustments to the sturts. Aeromarine sells the brass bushings and led/teflon bushings for the speed master hardware. I would use gthe brass bushings.

I would also use the single rudder as some have suggested, your cat does not need two rudderrs to turn. Good luck with your build.
