    Help needed with Thunder Tiger

Help me I'm a newbee to boating.
Im running a Thunder Tiger OBL mono hull 40' with issues. In short I started with a Hobby wing 180A ESC and 3750 KV motor spinning a Prather 225. It was fast for 90 sec followed by a long swim and a small fire. The Esc melted all the way down. So I replaced the ESC with another 180A Esc and changed the motor to a 2700KV but the wires on the motor side were getting so hot it was melting the soder at the bullets. Now the wires coming off the ESC are 10G and 12G on the motor so I don't know if that was the issue.
So I once again changed the motor to a castle MM 2200kv, and it runs well but I think there is a lot more speed in there some were. She will plan fairly well, once the boat takes a set I can hear the RPM's get pulled down. After 5-6 of running on 6S the ESC goes into thermal protection. So what do I need to do. Right now Im running a Octura 1450 6s 180A Esc and 2200 KV. I have a 3750KV 2700KV and 2000Kv that I can still use.
Anybody have the right combination for me?
can I run A small prop to bring down the Amp draw and heat but still run faster?
    I'm all ears.

in my short time of researching, it sounds like to me that your boat is overpropped and with electrics they dont quit when overloaded-they just melt. its over loaded basically, try a different prop(hope this helps)

Try a x642 with the 2200kv motor on 4-5s max , the 180 ESC is known for the low voltage cut off , kicking in to early try setting it to 2.8volts per cell , i have 3 of them & with it set to 2.8volts all my batteries are coming back with about 1000mah left in them ....

sorry didnt know they were a 43" hull , those motors you have are too small & too higher KV to push that hull , thats why everything is running hot ! You need something like a Leopard 5682 -1670kv or the 5692 1340kv motor , both will be ok on 6s & some big 50 mm props .

Yes way too small motors in there.

                You need a T600 outrunner. 1400Kv on 5S, 1100kv on 6S or 880Kv on 8S.

That or a Scorpion outrunner or 5692 leopard and possibly a SF240 or maybe a FirecatRC 150amp HV.

Whatever you get, it's got to be twice the watts as what TT put in there.

Nice looking hull, crappy engineering in electronics though.

"Hey, lets put a cover over an undersized outrunner, that should keep it nice & cool right?" DOUGH!!!!!

When you mention a motor, please include the motor size. that makes all the difference. What 1400kv leopard did you buy?

It depends on what speed you want. The 3674 is a bit small. Is it a 4 pole?

this is a 39.5" hull that needs at least a CC1717 on 5s or 6s but more like a 5692 1340 on 6s would really work well in this big hull
