Where to buy G-10 sheet in Toronto?

Hey all,

I'm planning to add a flood chamber to one of my spare SV27 hulls and I wanted to use some G-10 (thin prefab fibreglass sheet) for the walls of the chamber.

I may also use some extra to make an extra motor mount or two.

If you are wondering what G-10 is, it's used on the sides of motor mounts like this one sold by OSE:

It's also the stuff they use to make PC boards (only without the copper cladding applied to it.

Does anyone know where they sell this stuff in the GTA? I checked with HobbyHobby, Active Surplus and A1 Electronics and haven't found it.

Are there any well stocked hobby or electronic stores anyone has seen this stuff at. I need probably one sheet of 1/16" thick and 12" x 12" or so.

What about some CF? looks sexier than that G-10 stuff.

Google G10 garolite and you will find many suppliers. McMaster Carr sells different sizes. Theres a bunch out there.

I know there are many sources, including McMaster.com, but I can't find any locally around Toronto.

The post office is, ahem, a bit gummed up, around here for the time being and I didn't want to pay $30 courier fees to ship a $12 sheet of G-10.

I'd go for carbon fiber sheets too, but I can't seem to find any of those locally as well. Let's just say, the hobby shops I've seen around here leave a LOT to be desired.

Did you try that crazy surplus place on Queen St? I don't know the name but a lot of the time there is a gorilla handing out flyers out front.
I got some there years ago, don't know if the place is still open though, it's a real junk shop, stuff everywhere.
My best modeling knife came from there, a #11 scalpel handle and a 100 pack of blades, great tweezers and hemostat selection, lots of measuring stuff as well.
I hope it's still open, might go there next time I do the Queen St music guitar shop run.
There is also a place called Active Electronics on Vic Park north of the 401, I know you can buy perf board there and cladded circuit board, maybe just sand off the thin film of copper?

If you want, I can laminate a sheet of CF for you. It'll be about 12x12, and about 1/16 thick. $20, picked up in Newmarket.

lol. It's not THAT far. 20 minutes up the 400 from Toronto. 15 minutes if you are coming up the 404. I stay away from the custom stuff, as it takes too much time. Something I already have none of. lol. Whatever spare time I used to have, my 6 month old was happy to take it.

Haven't run since spring 2010 because boat has been sitting in the garage waiting for a rebuild. It's funny, all the boats I own are in some state of being rebuilt. But when I do run, I generally go down to Humber Bay park in Toronto.

I'm guessing they run at the park above the lock on the Trent-Severn? I have been there, all my inlaws live in Peterborough. Although the Del-Crary looks like it would not be a bad location.

Lock 23 is just north of trent university on River road.
Crary park is ok but usually pretty rough, kids swimming, lots of ducks and geese as well a boat traffic.
I live in the south end, near Landsdown Place, I go down Monaghan and run under the bypass during the evenings.
Was out for 2 hours last night running nitro at Lock 23 last night.

Why not just grab a piece of 1/16th pc board from Sayal Electronics and either heat the copper and peal it off or buy a bottle of developer and melt the copper off? I have been doing that for years (Long before the advent of Carbon Fibre).
