    Hey Brian,

Welcome to OSE. Are you building to race or for sport running?

If it’s for racing there are two classes to choose from…

For the P-Limited Hydro class: I would recommend the UL-1 motor.

For the Open P class I would recommend a motor in the 2200KV range. Possible options depending on your budget would be…

    Budget Option: Leopard 3674 2200 kv http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...ushless+Motors

Middle of the road option: Castle Creations 1515 1Y 2200kv http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...3529&hlp=false

    High End option: Neu 1515 1Y 2200 kv http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...u-1515&cat=117

There are some other options too, but those are the ones I’m familiar with.

I have also been thinking of a rigger but I want all out speed ( saw) speed.
what would you recommend for that set up as I'm not knowing about the different classes.

I'm not very knowledgeable about SAW setups as I don't have any SAW boats, but I'm sure someone will chime in with a recommendation. My initial guess for a SAW motor would be in the 2300kv - 2500kv range. The SAW class would be the P power class as well. (14.8 volts / 4 cell lipo).

I'd have thought it would be N2 Hydro class for oval and SAWs, as well as Pspec hydro, the 2 cell classes are the only way you will fit a 2p battery setup inside to leverage the extra power available to the full on classes.

Neu 1412/1d 4850kv will fit straight in the stock position with stock angle in the stock mount. 1515 needs some grinding to the stock mount and will either need to lay flatter than stock angle with an "S" bend flex or a bubble in the hatch, the castle 1515 would need extensive grinding to the stock mount and the motor as well as either an "S" bend or bubble and watercooling it while keeping the diameter small enough will be tricky, even a 36x74/XL size motor needs a Lehner/Feigao style jacket rather than an OSE/Neu style jacket to fit under the hatch with the stock mount and angle.

Paul slight change on subject, Do you have any thoughts on the Het motors going into a Mini Sprint on 3s for saw runs. Was looking at the Het 1W-30. Thanks Martin.

                I have a Neu 15151y in a Jae .21 nitro hull.
As you can see in the pics, its quite a squeeze, but it does fit.
This is a 70+ mph boat with the right prop. I use a 437 three blade, and sometimes a highly modified 2040. The latter being a little iffy...PUFFF??? But MANNN does it haul.

I have no foam in the nose of this hull in order to fit the ESC, and cap board.

Steve-B, what motor mount is that? its different to my Zippkits one. It looks like there may be some motor sticking up there and there's definitely a lot of cooling jacket sticking up, it wouldn't fit the stock flat ply hatch, is that the corner of a Vac-U-Boat ABS cowl i see in the third pic? if so is it tall enough stock or did you have to bubble it to clear the coolling jacket?

Whats up dog, it's a JAE.21FE as in the thread title its made by ZippKits and its 31.5" long, the motor Steve-B is using is a NeuMotors 1515/1Y.

If I bought the neu motor. Will I need a new motor mount if I have the one that zipp kits put in it? (I had mine pre built)

What Neu Motor? My 14/5 fit straight in all stock, the bigger diameter 15xx series require filing/grinding to the cheeks of the motor mount, 1515 or bigger will require a bubble in the ply hatch or the Vac-U-Boat ABS cowl (also available from Zippkits), longer than xx15 will require modifying or removing the bulkhead near the motor.

What cooling jacket? The OSE jacket I got with my 1415 was of too large a diameter and would not fit within the sides of the mount, so I bought a Lehner style jacket for it which fits within the sides with room to spare, I think it will be hard to find a full length jacket for a 15xx motor that fits within the sides of the mount, which leaves 3 options, drilling new holes further back and putting the mount in backwards like I have just realised steve-b did so the sides of the mount are not next to the motor, use a short jacket over the rear of the motor behind the mount, or get/make a new mount (while a removable mount is certainly convenient, a drilled piece of glass/carbon/alloy/ply glued in place is perfectly adequate).
