    establishing a place to run

i emailed the local parks and rec recreational to see a bout getting a place to run electric r/c boats- there used to be a nitro gas club at the park but they moved a fews years and they held nationals there had a drivers stand and raced every sunday, although i dont know any guys here in west palm beach to run with there are quite a few hobby shops if i get the word out they will come. i am just trying to lay the ground work for a spot i am sure it might take a while to get something going

any info you guys have on this i am all ears

here are some back and forth e-mails this looks promising

          Hi Steve,

Your inquiry was forwarded to my attention. I coordinate a lot of Club Activities which take place in our parks. You are correct the RC Boat Club has relocated to West Delray Park. Starting up another RC Boat Club at Okeeheelee Park would require a permit which will be difficult to justify as long as the West Delray based club remains a good option.

so are you saying because the delray club is not so far from okeeheelee then why go there kind of thing- as far as the park in concerned

Yes, that is part of it.

the problem is we as electric boaters cant join there club nor do they want us in it. why i dont know, there are only a hand full of gas and nitro clubs around the country that even allow electric to be part of there club. within the last 5 years there have great strides in electric motor and battery technology and can hold its own against the gas/nitro counter parts but i think they feel if it dosent make noise than its just a toy

its like the guys that ride harleys vs. crotch rocket bikes there both riding motorcycles but not part of the same club or ride together- thats the way they like it no harm no foul

thanks for getting back to me hopefully there is a way to organize something please look into this if you can

          Steve,

No problem. Now I understand better. I’ll look into it.

          John

thanks its something i've wanted to do for a while even though the waveblasters club is an hour away its hard to make that drive every sunday, there are plenty of parks and lakes to go around and there alot of boaters out there why not get organized. this weekend i will post up something at the hobby shops see if i cant stir up any electric boaters
