    90 to 100?? brainstorming

    hi all,

i have been thinking about going 85-100mph..but i want to do it with a sportish boat setup and not a saw setup..when i say "sportish" i mean like 2-3 minute runtime and several high speed passes. also want it to be a single big motor setup most likely a catamaran will be slightly easier..i have never run a hydro so i would like to stick with a cat..i am thinking along the lines of a 3080 lehner or neu2230 in a 42 inch sprintcat for 12s...oh yeah i want to be able to turn decent also at 65. i understand this is difficult but it may be a fun challenge trying to do it

    2 questions..is this feasible/doable?
any surefire hulls i should be leaning towards?

    just throwing this out there

Uhhhh, the short answer is that is a tall challenge!

If you want a 85-100mph cat with those sort of run times look at an HPR 135 with a twin motor set-up. A single motor would also be possible but approx the same cost. A 3080 and appropriate controller will cost just as much as two smaller motors and respective controllers. The run time will vary with batts used in parallel.

Most other gas cat hulls or mono hulls will need a lot to achieve those speeds. For example a DF sniper with 3080 + Schulze 40.303 and 10S2p worth of batteries is capable of 85mph, but pushing close to 100 is an extra tall effort. I tried and blew a 40.303.

A sprint cat would have to heavily beefed up to handle a crash at those speeds with a 25 lb boat.

The only cats I am aware of running those speeds consistently are the scale appearing ones from HPR, MHZ and others. Costs goes up exponentially with size and speed so do your research first.

This isn't what you want exactly, but I'm running a 32" twin cat using 540L cans at 2800kv on 4s and so far have been 81mph on GPS. If I step down to 3s and put on bigger props, I can go 60-61mph with cooler temps. As far as turning, this hull isn't that great. Just throwing my experience out there.

thanks guys...i knew it was going to be difficult..and when a guy with experience tells me "uuhhh" in the first word then it may be out of my league right now..i have a sniper running 75 nicely and i am happy with that..i guess you do not see too many boats right now except for the hpr's and such doing high numbers...i will research some more and probably put this one on the back burner until this fall...thanks again larry and tyler
