    Thrust bearings

Looking for a thrust bearing for my BJ-26 motor (5mm shaft) in my 1/10th Scale hydro. I currently have two that are .240 thick and one that is .155 thick. Anyone seen any that are thinner than .155?

    Jim,

I have used them all, well I think all, let put it this way more then 4 different manufacturers, and you can get thinner ones, wider ones and each ulitlizing different cages. But for a 5mm shaft, hands down the Tamiya OP-136 (OSE carries them) is going to perform the best. Its a swaged design that contains the bearings, doesnt have a gage, and has worked in some of my 40k+ rpm setups and has never self destructed.

There was a post about thrust bearings last year that contained some decent information from many users who had like me, played with different brands and the Tamiya seemed to be the winner. Now go up in shaft size and the story is different. For 6mm and 8mm shafts only the VXB thrust bearings have been successful for my applications. The OP-135 just happens to be .155 so that might be the one you are referring to. To find a thinner bearing its going to have to be grooved and have very thin end plates. Good luck.

My mail issue is I use a BJ-26 motor in my hydro and the shaft is short and by the time you add the bearing in there what's left of the motor shaft is kind of short. i may just put one at the strut if I can find a OD that is not bigger than my drive dog.
