am i using the wrong solder?!?!

guys, im still having some heat issues with my 5.5 bullets. i have been doing my soldering with silver bearing solder. i use it because i have it for doing flex cables, but it never occured to me that maybe it doesnt conduct all that well. i know radio shack sells several types of solder, and i have no idea what kind is best for battery and motor connections. can someone please school me in why so many types and is the silver bearing solder not suited for electrical connections? thanks guys

yeah, soldering isnt a problem, its just that my connectors get so damn hot after a run. im using a proven setup and not over propping. i just thought maybe i could be using a better solder. i noticed silver bearing solder is used in mostly hvac, so im suspicious if it has the qualities needed for high amp electrical connections

I use silver solder. A good iron and use of rosin/flux makes life a lot easier.

How many amps are you pulling? Is the surrounding wire really warm as well?

i cant tell you that, but im running leopard 4074 220 kv on 4s 40c packs and m445 prop. all the wires get pretty hot, and my bullets come back anywhere between 140 - 200 degrees depending on how hard i run

Can you estimate the amp draw using how many mah you put back into the pack(s) and how long the runtime is? How big are the smallest wires, maybe they're heating up first and transferring the heat to the bullets?

theyre 5000 mah but i always end up putting like 5300 back into them. runtimes, say 4 to 5 minutes tops. the smallest wires are 12 gauge. they come stock on my seaking 180

i also run my titan 29 on ul-1 motor esc and even that comes in pretty hot sometimes, mainly when im running full out, which is what ive always been told is best, run it at full throttle

I don't think it's the solder but the technique.

I think it has to do with having to put 5300 mah back into a 5000 mah pack...he,he!

Ok, what is the proper technique? I'll go ahead and say my soldering skill is pretty darn good or above average. But maybe I'm missing something

well, i dunno why this happens but w/e. how would this affect bullets and heat?

ive been reading and what i get is the best solder for electrical connections is 60%tin 40% lead rosin core. what is 94/4 silver bearing solder contain?
