genesis build need help!!!

Ok I just built this genesis without thinkinh to much about the cooling. I bought a hull hardware seaking 180a and cc1518 it looks to nice to put a hole through the top and their isn't much room in the back and I've never put in through hull pickups before. Theeasy way is to say the heck with it and drill a hole and run a line and I am dying to run it this weekend but the better half of me says wait andput through hull pickups. How hard are they t install I guess is my question? And the genesis isn't like my gieco where thesteps are flat so how do I go about installing them?

They would pick up water well, but also create drag.

Why not just use rudder with pickups built in ?.

You could just use the water pickups too, a hole in the boat isnt that bad

I just used the aluminum lines from an old cooling coil I had laying around. Worked awesome and were flush to the hull.

I don't want to drill a hole in the body if I don't have to and there isn't much room in the back to put an inline nipple or atleast its almost impossible t get the hose on I dd that in my mg with twice the room and didn't think I as ever gonna fit it no room for my big hands. I thought about something similar using copper tubbing but was unsure how it worked thanks for the info

I get mine at the pet store. Air hose for aquariums.

Dude, ditch the auto bailers. Also, why not just use the rudder pickup? Plenty of cooling.

Its not th cooling I'm woried about its weather or no I should ruin a nice hull by trying to feed a hose through the back or the top. There's like an inch of space between the back top and bottom and I really don't want to spend all this money and ruin the body. What's wrong with autobailers out of curiousity?

You should not get any water in your boat if taped properly more of a chance the autobailer failing and filling your boat with water.

yup. just drill the hole on the transom. it's simple. lay dow some masking tape where you want to drill first.

the auto bailers have a great history of jamming OPEN.
also when you just set the boat in the water, the little ball tends to go FORWARD and opens
the bailer to the water, thus flooding the boat.

please remove them and glass over the holes you made for them.

the cooling line from the rudder is very easy to install, but just a bit time consuming.
you do not have to use the thru hull fittings really.

if you have some calipers or know a guy that does, borrow them and get a close measurment
of the outside diameter of the tubing you will be using.
then find a drill bit with the same or just SLIGHTLY smaller diameter.

lay apiece of masking tape over the area you will drill.
take a few size smaller drill bit and drill at the spot, then go larger, then larger, ect., until you finally use the one you need to drill with.

next take your tubing and cut a nice long slit in it so you end up with a long piece of tubing that has a sort of needle looking end on it. this is the end that you will feed into the hole you just drilled.

feed it in carefully as far as you can then grab it from inside the hull with a pair of needle nose pliers and pull the tubing (slowly!!) in till you leave what you need outside the boat to hook up to your rudder nipple.

the tubing acts as its' own seal to boot.

then do your internal plumbing to the ESC, Motor and mount.

I have done this (and others as well) for many years and have never had any water leak or failure.
