Mini HK airboat: Is it worthy?

    Hi guys

HK has a new mini airboat that is very tempting......

    http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=17899

Never owned one before but I have small creek near my place which is too small for FE.....

Is the airboat suitable for small creeks/ponds? Any thought on the airboat? What are the things I need to look for when buying an airboat?

    Thanks a lot.

All I know is the last boat I got from HK was a total piece of junk. The esc blew up 1 minute into the first run. The hull was paper thin. The motor was advertised as a 540 size and turned out to be a 380 size.

With the air boat you have to add an esc. Doesn't come with it. And a radio. Gosh knows how much shipping is.

Sorry, but I'd stay clear of that thing! JMHO

Ha! I swear that's the same boat but a much better deal right here in the U.S.A.

I have found you have to be careful with HK. Not everything they sell is a good price!

I come up with $24 shipping on a $43 boat.

Anyway you dice it, it is probably a better deal over the Aquacraft. Lets face it, AQ cheaper stuff isnt anything to write home about. Its AM radio, cheap esc/reciever built in one and a brushed motor.

Thing probably has just enough power to move.

I'm sure either one would have to be significantly upgraded in order to work at all, so go with whatever is cheaper and may have some spare parts after the tear out.

The aquacraft one (like already mentioned) has marginal old gear, nimh battery and a brushed motor. The HK one needs a small cheap ESC (20a's are like $12), a small 2s and a cheap tx/rx. I bet you can have it all done and shipped under $100.

The real question on the HK one is if the motor has enough power to make it go good or not...

To make the AQ one good you need all the things the HK one needs PLUS a new motor... Then you have to come up with a new motor mount design...
