    West Systems in ottawa?

I have spent the day researching and going around, All i have found is lee valley which has a 110min 39 oz. one for 70.00. If i'm gonna pay that much, I want a 24 hr one so I get a reasonable finish. Does anyone know where to get some?
Home hardware, home depot, canadian tire, rona, or lowes don't have any.

Couldn't have been much research, West does not have a 24 hour hardener. 209 extra slow cure has a 40-50 minute pot life at room temp. You were shopping for a product that does not exist!
Pot life means you get 40-50 minutes before it starts to gel and become unworkable.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Everyone i know that uses West 105 resin either uses 205 hardener or 206, Theirs ample time on both of these hardeners. Most tend to use the 205 fast

205 fast cure 6-8hrs, 60-70mins working time in thin film.
206 slow cure 10-15hrs, 90-110 mins working time in thin film.
209 extra slow cure 20-24hrs, 3-4 hrs working time in thin film.
        Martin.

My grandfather has 24 hour cure time, but the lady on the phone stated 110 minutes working time, a few hourrs a curing time, I just want a smooth finish. Is it really 70$? or is it overpriced?

Any good boat store or chandlery should keep West system resin & hardener. The $70 is probably for the 1 litre of resin + hardener. Here in the UK you cant buy either separatally they come as a kit. Martin.

West Coast Systems epoxy is probably one of the best out there. The difference is in the hardener for working times as Martin mentioned. I use the 205, when you mix it, which is 5 - 1 it is very runny almost the consistency of automotive oil so you will get a very nice finish. If you want it thicker use #406 colloidal silica. You mix as much or as little to the epoxy to fit your application and can be made into a thick past that wont run but still holds the strength . Yes its$70 but you get 39oz.

I have a Lee Valley Tools here where I live and its the only place local that carries it.

I buy MAS Epoxy from Noah's boat store in Toronto. I've shopped by phone & visited.

I think they have smaller repair kits available so you don't need to spend $70.

Funny thing is, I never thought I would go through that much epoxy but, shure enough it will be gone soon. Had it for 2 years or so. Still works excellent. Just as good as West Sysytems too.

Noah's Marine Supply offers everything you need to build your own custom canoes, kayaks and boats. We carry marine plywood's, epoxy resin, fiberglass tape, paint, boat kits, tools and more at great prices. From plans to paint and all supplies in between, we have what you need to construct or repair your own craft.
