    2S Lipo setups??

I am looking for a good inexpensive set up for a 25 inch hull. Most of the time I use a car motor and ESC like a Castle Momba 5800Kv this is good but a little expensive. I was thinking about a Leopard motor or some thinking like that. I can not afford to buy everything any more so I am looking for ideas.

Well 45 people have looked at this and no one could think of a thing? Come on guys, I want to hear about that Hobby King out runner or what ever you are running with 2S.

I just made a $49.00 or $39.00 (I can not remember) Mystery 200amp 2S to 6S cheep ESC work with a Pistix. I have had it for a year space case I am. I need a motor other than a Ebay guess from Hong Kong or Shenzen ware ever over there.

Those are 2 pole motors? I wonder if the 4 pole are hitting them yet?

Been thinking Tacon when funds allow again for my JAE mini.
The one I'm looking at is a 2 pole I think though. Nothing wrong with that if propped correctly.

          2848 3900kv

They have some 2860 LPB tacons which are 4 pole. Don't have the KV I'm after though.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Cool one the 19bucks is cool for the size motor. could work for the ultra cheap setup.

I looked at the 2860 LPB tacons at 46 bucks a little higher on the $$$ side but still could be a option. Hobby Partz has a line about the same I just can not buy a lot and I want to think about it and get the right one

I was just looking at the Leopard 4074 Motor on OSE and Hobby Partz and OSE is $30.00 less and I bet Steve gives much better service. I am a little off track of the threads point but it is a less expensive motor just not cheap.

Randy, our club runs a 2S Sport Hydro "spec" class. We run hulls from 24" to 26" with Feigao 7S motors and x440 props. Speeds are mid-40s, costs are low but the racing is great fun. I would guess that other, similar Kv (3500 rpm) motors would work fine too but the Feigaos balance quality and cost pretty well.

Randy, I'm testing a few cheap 540-size short and long motors in the 5000kv to 5300kv range. They run $20-25. I will certainly let you know. in the meantime, i'd recommed a few of the larger outrunners. You'll find that there are several in the the 4000-4100kv range that handle 90-100A with 16 gauge wire. Give me a call and we'll talk about the low cost options.

For ESCs, best bang for the buck is the Suppo 200A. It arms at 2s and you can turn off low voltage cutoff.

Thanks Jay this is great info, sorta just what I was looking for. This will transfer over to cheap motors motor too. Like for any 2 pole motor of the similar size.

I just do not have all the time I want to research things any more either and this gives me a base line for my fun run group on Sundays at Heather Farms Pond. I spent a lot of the day today cleaning the fiberglass room and cleaning a drain out in that room. My wife says "Prioritize and you will have time for every thing!" there is just not enough time in the day. again thanks

I do enjoy our talks on the phone, But I can fit this in when I have time. Like right now the wife in in bed sleeping, My time to be on the computer reading and so on. I am charging cells in the kitchen for tomorrows 1/8 scale run and my N2 Zephyer oval set up. I am getting ready to go to Fremont and run the big boats with Damon. Woo Hoo!

Oh I also have a 2S setup for my Mini Zephyer to test tomorrow. That I have been trying to get one of the Novak motors to keep up with with the Castle 5800 Momba that one of my Mini Zephyers. The boat belongs to a friends in the Heather Farms group. It is part of what this thread is about.

You are such a tec'ie head I would be looking for 4 pole motors news from you. I want to know more about this ESC the Suppo 200A. That Mystery 200amp esc takes beep to program and I get lost and confused counting. (way too much LSD in the 60ties) Oh I can turn it off I want to set my own rates.

OK I found this ESC today. looks a lot like my Mystery 200amp ESC and the cost is a little cheaper $29.00

When you compare leopard motor prices make sure you are comparing LBP to LBP motors, a lot of places don't make the distinction between the 2 and 4 pole motors. If it doesn't say LBP4074 or whatever size it is not a 4 pole.
Not saying you are wrong about the price but I've almost gotten caught thinking I found leopards for a bit over half price until I really found out what I was about to order.

Good info, so the LBP indicates 4 pole?

Would a Castle sidewinder car system with the 4600 kv motor work? 88.00 on fleabay.
You would probably have to watch temps though
