    df 29 questions

i have a df29 with a seaking 180 esc and a 7xl motor in it.I have been messing with props like x445,42x55 and today an x447....wow goes like a bullit on the x447 but started to swell my 50c lipos, maybe too much amp draw and yes I maybe should have a lower kv motor lol.So what motor/prop selection should I use to not risk swelling and still be fairly quick...? I also have a neu/castle 2200kv that I can throw in it but want others info please......

I was running a 9xl (1853kv) with an X642 on 4s 5000 40c and gpsed at 46.1. Don't remember the exact amp draw (thinking peaks at 125 or so) but I'll check when I get home tonight.

I put an 8xl in it but haven't run it long enough to get any readings yet due to a lost prop shaft (broke solder joint).

IMO 7xl (2382 kv) is too much on 4s especially with that big a prop. I bet your amp draw is really high. Big prop, lower kv motor (1800 - 2000) - smaller prop, motor kv (2000 - 2200).

A sweet prop on a 7Xl in that size hull is an X437/3 blade. Lets the motor rev & doesn't draw so many amps. If the boat is really aired out a Grim racer 40mmx52mm also works well.

You didn't mention what voltage you are running,

If its 4S then that explains the problem

          Good point Doby.
I was assuming driftah was running 4s.
          Is that right driftah?
The props I mentioned are for 4s as that's what I ran in mine.
          Cheers.

Maybe this will help, I did some experiments last year with my 29.

x440 was really good prop on 4 and 5s, 6s snapped the 3/16 flex on 4s the batt temps were fine(40C 5000mAh)

x442 would propably be good also.

Sold the boat last summer to a friend and it still goes like a missle!

I run my DF29 using a 8xl on 4s, prop is a m445, current draw is 139 amps with a speed of 57 mph. I don't remember the temp readings but I can run it for 4 min on this setup with no problems.

This hull is a blast to run
