Just wondering what others have encountered when running with other non fe boat people around, spectators. I have noticed that the two most common questions are: "How much does it cost?" and "How fast does it go?" Along with is that gas or electric, some people that know a little about rc's ask if it is lipo. The feedback i hear from people tells me that not too many people are aware of the hobby.
As weather improves there are more and more people around the lake and I'm searching for more people to suck into the hobby. However cost seems to be a deterrent.
I've been saying 325-350 for a rtr geico ( not even mentioning cost of batts chargers and tools) and that seems to be a lot for most people, at least that's what they have been saying.
Should i start recommending the SV as a slightly lower priced option? Not sure a mini rio or something of that nature would satisfy people after i run my near 50 mph Geico along the shore line.
Fastech? (pretty choppy water at times.)
How do i retain interest after a drop the price point? Do i need to demonstrate more value before i even say a cost? Do i say a boat like this should cost 450 but it is only 350?
A lot of the interest starts with kids ranging from 3-12 (guessing here) however these kids do have dads that sometimes also take interest.
I have an idea i'd like to pursue but need to create some sort of market for it before i could soundly make any decisions.
Maybe suggest a blast for the kids? Are there any rtr jet boats out like the nqd that i don't know about? I feel like there is some potential to bring the price point down while keeping the fun factor high with 2s jet boat. Lots of guys would be able to use their buggy, or truck or SC truck batteries so all they would need would be a rtr kit. Plus only needing one 2s cell would help in bringing the cost down.
Feel free to make any comments you might think are remotely related.
