    hydra 120 and motor question

    looking to buy a hydra will the speedo run both my fegiao and sv27 motor without the aid of a computer to adjust timming if need be.

    Im notsure about the fieago but the stock motor ran to good on4s lipo i burned it up monday am. not sure if i had the timing to high or what. it was set 4 race not sure how high that was but i guess it should have been in normal mode.

      Guys - do not set your ESC timing to the highest setting! With most motors it makes no speed difference, but it does heat things up real fast. For 95% of all running with a Castle ESC, use the lowest, #1 setting only. As a frame of reference - the fastest 4S boat in the world ran a Castle/Neu combination, and he used the #1 setting to make a pass at 114 mph.

          Yes, #1 = low timing = SAW record. A lot depends on the motor design, but there is no reason to use more than #2 - and you are usually better off with #1. Motor timing is a tuning aid, not a magic recipe for maximum speed. Is one mph - if that - worth burning up a $200 ESC?

            true but i wish some one would have told me that befor i burned up my stock motor. i just got a 36-50- 2300 ammo motor and a hydra 120 in a super vee i would like a prop recomendation?
