    Need a good starter boat.

Im just wondering whats a really good boat to start with? I need something that can withstand moderately rough water. I live on the James river and it gets really rough, but i know of places to escape it. I would also prefer something that can withstand saltwater, but its not needed. Thanks for any input.

about an hour and a half, driving. 30 minutes away from Richmond. I also go to hampton every now and then to go fishing with some friends, thats why i would prefer saltwater durability so i can run it in their little cove they love in.

bby racing boats are nice and easy on the pocket they abs but can be made very strong with a little glass and wood, i think bby sells ss hardware that would be good for the salt water
