Noobie needs some help with setup

First of all guys,Great site!! I've been lurking for a few days reading all the great info here. Now to my question.....I have an older prather lapcat that has a 7.5 outboard on it that I would liek to convert over to electric,I found the adapter plate I need to run the brushless on my 7.5 lower but I'm clueless as to what Motor and ESC I would need to make this thing go pretty good and keep it on a semi cheap budget,I have two 3s 5000 mah lipos already so I'd like to run them.

    Any advise is welcome!!!!

    Thanks Guys
    Shawn

    Hers what I'm working with.......

The Leopard 4074 1400kv will give you some decent speed on 6s..............

A 4082 would be even better!

    1500kv.............can turn more prop too - http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...o-4082&cat=148

There are folks who dont agree with running an ESC at its full voltage rating, i do it and have gotten away with it for quite some time, this will work.........to each his own.

If those packs are truly only 500mah then you most likely can't use them for this boating application. The more mah's the more better in boating =) If you're running a 2p (two packs parralel) then you'll want to go with, at the very least, 3300 mah packs. This will give you 6600 mah and even then you're run times are going to be very low, a few minutes at most. I'd go with 4400-5000 mah packs in parallel to give you 8800-10,000 mah in total for decent run times.

A 120amp esc won't hold up running either leopard motor suggested. If you can't fit a 180 esc in the hull, then use a swordfish 200amp. What are the dimensions of the hull? Length and width?

However, a T180 would be the best route to go for some comfort room..............especially with the 4082.

pescador.....Lets see how this experiment goes and if it goes good i'd be more then glad to help someone out with my spare parts,Thanks guys for the help I'm getting a list together now to start converting it over,So far I have a leopard 4082 1500kv motor with cooling can, swordfish 120a with programmer, cooling tube, water pickup(to run ESC on dedicated circuit from motor)10g silicone wire,a few bullet connectors,a Y connector to run both batteries at once....I think that should get me moving in the right direction. The radio box is 13"L X 2 3/4"W.I'm wondering if I should move the steering servos to put batteries more towards the bow or leave them towards the stern?

Go with a conservative prop at first if you get the 120a speedo(x442 for example). If you can afford the T180, get it for insurance room with the 4082 to allow for larger props. Im certain of the ability of the 120a to run the 4074, but the 4082 may be close so keep an eye on things.
