New to Brushless, Need an RTR - HELP

Im looking for a 28-34" high speed brushless RTR boat. Im pretty new to brushless boats and would love any advice. Ive been doing a lot of research and I probably know the least about ESC's and Lipos... or just everything in general.

Ive been looking especially at the ProBoat Miss Geico. Ive compared it with the Ul-1, traxxas spartan, and a few others. I really dont wanna (cant) spend more than about $400 total, a tiny bit over would be fine.

With the Miss geico I figured Id start out with two 4s 4500 to 5000mAh 25 to 30c, but im really not sure. Id love if anyone could recommend specific specs for batteries, chargers, etc. I also considered an Octura x642, but again this i just from what Ive seen.

Id like to start out with as much stock as I can and learn from there. Any tips or tricks are great too! Thanks for the help in advance everyone!

PB miss geico is a great choice, the spartan is a turd stay away from it also the aquacraft motley crew just came out yesterday should be a real winner. The Pursuit mono's from Kintec racing are awesome also but they are artr so you would need a servo and tx/rx. All the new boats need batts (lipos) if you already have some your covered. You can run those 4s batts in parallel for a 2p setup but don't use them with the way the boat is wired factory or she will blow on powerup. The stock wiring on these boats are series so 2 4s batts plugged in would be 8s and a load bang would occur.

Just a few weeks ago I was in your position. Your budget was very close to mine. toss it out the window. This is a break sown of what I spent.

$410 Kintec for boat with shipping
$ 216.95 Tower Hobbies, for Radio gear, battery, charger and servos
$53.50 Kintec for 5.5mm bullit connectors, 1 piece shaft, grease

Got to go right now will post more later

That is the battery I was looking at with 5.5mm bullets and I think I need deans connectors for the MS geico. As for a charger I might have one from planes a while back but ill have to find it.. its very simple. I think its this one.

400 is a little tight if you don't have batteries or a charger.

A MG by herself is between 300-350, I paid 350 for mine a buddy of mine got his for 320 or something like that.

You want to get the batts with 5.5 and switch the deans on the esc, not the batts.

You can pick up 10 pairs of 5.5 connectors from HK for around 5 bucks when you get your batteries.

x642 will cost ya 15+ just for the raw prop, then you need a balancer if you don't have one of those, which are about 20 bucks or you can buy a finished prop but the prices go up to around 40+

That charger you have would not be good for lipos of this size, it would take a long time, easily overnight to do one 5000 mah batt and you will go through two of those 2s 5000 mah 30c packs in 5 min or so depending on prop and how you run it.

A cheap charger still cost around 50 bucks brand new. I have my first charger i could sell you, its auto detect but only charges up to 3 amps or something like that so it's not as fast as a 5 amp charger but it works well and it is ac/dc. I'll post more info if you are interested in it.

You may want to consider getting a used MG, they come up in the swap shop often and some are in excellent condition and may have a couple upgrades.

You could just get the boat then save for another couple months, hobby cost a little bit to get into but as long as you don't go blowing motors and esc's you wont have to spend much to maintain.

You might think about buying second hand from the swap shop here, usually for half price or so you can pick up a boat that usually has a few upgrades over stock, like connectors or better cooling etc.
I picked up a used SV27 with a few upgrades for under 200 shipped with a radio I didn't really need.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

dont go with the spartan youll be sorry,i was in the same spot limited funds, the best boat i think for the money is the UL-1 299.00 from OSE grimm racer packs 150.00 charger 100.00 and your spanking the water.oh and of coarse a prop.you can get cheaper lipos though.i might be missing something iam sure i am.
